Membrane-enrichment technology platform

Enrich first. Detect with substantially greater sensitivity.

Principle illustration: an overhead microscope stage with a milky uncleared circular membrane and no targets visible before clearing

Air inside a porous membrane scatters light and makes it look white. A matched clearing medium reduces that scattering while targets remain at the surface. Move the pointer to scan them in the microscope field.

CONFIGURABLE MEMBRANE

Seven membrane properties that make enrichment valuable

Typical workflows provide approximately 20–100× enrichment depending on sample volume and process conditions. Combined with µm-scale thinness, adjustable pore size, ultra-low fluorescence background and optical clearing, these properties concentrate targets, reduce interference and make downstream detection easier.

20–100×

A μm-scale ultra-thin enrichment interface

A μm-scale ultra-thin membrane forms a compact target-bearing interface. The platform can deliver approximately 20–100× enrichment according to sample volume, so more concentrated target material enters downstream detection.

Together, these membrane properties concentrate and retain more target material at the surface so more concentrated targets enter downstream detection. Enrichment within the 20–100× range varies with sample volume and workflow conditions.

TWO PARALLEL ROUTES

Two parallel enrichment routes

Use centrifugation / embedded adsorption for smaller or standardised batch workflows, and evaluate filtration / retention for larger liquid volumes. Both routes concentrate targets at the membrane surface, with membrane type and operating conditions configured for the sample, target and downstream method.

01

Route A · Centrifugal action

Centrifugation / embedded-adsorption membrane enrichment

View route

A matched pretreated sample enters the sandwich cup, where centrifugal action and embedded adsorption concentrate targets for repeatable slide preparation and review.

02

Route B · Direct filtration

Filtration membrane enrichment

View route

A matched liquid sample passes through the membrane, concentrating cells, bacteria or small particles from a larger volume for microscopy or molecular preparation.

DOWNSTREAM INTERFACES

Multiple downstream analysis interfaces

One enriched membrane can support multiple downstream paths: morphology or fluorescence observation of cells, bacteria and small particles; direct entry into lysis and PCR / NGS preparation; or testing of water, air and production environments.

4 analysis routes

01

Morphology and microscopy

Keep cells, bacteria, fungi or other small particles concentrated at the membrane surface, then connect clearing, slide preparation, staining, microscopy, scanning and digital review.

Membrane type, handling steps and assay conditions are configured for the sample, target and selected method.

INDUSTRIALISED SYSTEM

Industrialised product system

Core membranes and consumables concentrate the target first. Reagent kits, slide-preparation and staining instruments, automated or semi-automatic scanning and AI-assisted review then carry compatible workflows from sample preparation into observation.

05

Other downstream analysis interfaces

Fluorescence, PCR / NGS, environmental, industrial and other methods enter through application-specific configuration.

ENRICHMENT FIRST / DETECTION NEXT

Original membrane technology that concentrates more target material

Tianqi Medical develops membrane materials, enrichment consumables and workflows as one platform that concentrates and retains targets at the membrane surface. Once enriched, the sample can connect to morphology, fluorescence, nucleic-acid or other methods with fewer avoidable transfer and elution losses.

01

Explain the principle
